This kit has everything to build 2 different kinds of robots, modeled on animals in the world.
The Bat
This robot uses ultrasonic sound to avoid objects in front of it. In real life, bats are able to navigate and hunt their prey at night by evolving to use echolocation. By emitting ultrasonic waves through their mouths, they are able to listen to the echoed sound and determine the size, size and texture of any obstacle or prey in their environment such as insects and bugs. The bat robot is able to mimic this unique ability using ultrasonic sensors to help it avoid colliding with objects in its path.
The Ant
This robot uses infrared light reflection to follow a marked trail on the floor. When an ant finds food, it leaves behind a scent trail for other ants to follow. This robot mimics the ability to follow trails by using two IR sensors to follow a black line marked on the ground. The IR sensors emit and receive invisible light waves (heat) which reflect off of the black line marking and are able to determine if they are staying on track to their destination.
